Precast & Construction
South Creek Crossing (West Des Moines, IA): Ball Team is the General Contractor for the “shell” construction of this 8,000 SF, 3-suite , retail project currently under construction in the West Glen Town Center. After a short winter shut-down, shell construction is scheduled for completion in the spring with the first major tenant opening shortly thereafter.
Probioferm (Urbandale, IA): Project consists of a 20,000 SF manufacturing facility located in Urbandale. The project includes sitework, concrete foundations, pre-engineered metal building and various office, production and laboratory space within the building. They make probiotics that go into human and animal foods.
Gray’s Landing Holiday Inn Express Hotel (Des Moines, IA): Project consists of a new 53,500 SF, 100 room Holiday Inn Express Hotel utilizing the latest proto type for this flag. Project is nearing completion.
LightEdge DC4 (Altoona, IA): This is the last phase of raised floor data space in the facility which includes constructing of state of the art data protection and data storage. Demolition and preparation for the raised floor have gone smoothly.
Siegwerk USA (Des Moines, IA): Project consists of a 1,000 SF precast addition to the existing Siegwerk USA plant in Des Moines, Iowa. Includes explosion proof electrical work, mechanical work, painting of exterior side of precast, hollow metal doors, overhead coiling door, TPO roofing system, parapet cap blocking, steel joists, steel stairs, interior CMU wall, concrete footings, foundation walls, and slab on grade, removal and replacement of existing concrete pavement.
Christ the King Senior Housing (Des Moines, IA): The Ball Team has been selected to construct the second phase of senior living units on the Christ the King campus. The project consists of a new three story with partial basement senior housing facility to match the existing senior housing facility across SW 9th Street. Facility will be on shallow foundation, will be a wood framed structure with brick, single hung windows, and siding make up the façade. Project includes one elevator that will have a CMU shaft, and two stair shafts that will be made of wood. Finishes include drywall, acoustical ceilings in the corridors, painting, and flooring.
Construction Remodel, Facility Conversion & Tenant Improvements
Price Chopper Beaver Drive (Des Moines & Johnston, IA): Project includes renovation of existing grocery stores into the Price Chopper brand. Renovations of the Meat Prep, Bakery, Deli, Dining, Floral, Customer Service, Checkout and Liquor areas are included in the renovations, as well as new floor coverings. Stores are open during the renovations, requiring solid coordination with the Owner’s ongoing operations key to our success. Projects are slated for completion in January 2016.
Gilmore Manufacturing (Des Moines, IA): Project includes a 22,900 SF renovation of the old UPS building near the airport. It will include primarily new office space and some work to the fabrication area, in addition to some reconfiguration of the site.
Des Moines Independent Community School District—Central Campus Phase 5 (Des Moines, IA): Remodel of existing 5th floor of the Central Campus facility. Project includes minor work on the 3rd floor, 4th floor, and roof. Work consists of interior demolition, woven wire fence wall, concrete pads and curbs, concrete grinding and polishing, interior masonry walls, steel columns for the paint booth and cooling towers, millwork, roof patches, doors/ frames/ hardware, two overhead doors, glass and glazing, interior metal stud framing, gypsum board assemblies, ACT, carpeting, VCT, ceramic tile, concrete sealer, painting, lockers, mechanical work, fire suppression system, and electrical work.
Recently Awarded Projects
FedEx Expansion (Des Moines, IA): Project consists of the construction of a new 62 door dock, shop, and yard expansion for FedEx Freight in Northeast Des Moines.
318 Fifth Street (West Des Moines, IA): Project includes the remodeling of an 8,600 SF building including: remove and replace roof; restore masonry hose tower and chimney; remove and replace mechanical systems; add fire sprinkler and upgrade of the finishes light fixtures.
UnitedHealth Group–Tenant Improvement (West Des Moines, IA): Project consists of the tenant Improvement of UnitedHealth Group’s West Des Moines existing space. Total project square feet is approximately 9,900 SF.
Clemens Automobile Bldg. Renovation (Des Moines, IA): Project includes the historic renovation of the Clemens Automobile Company building to allow for renovation of the facility to apartments. Work has started with the initial demolition of existing finishes and MEP systems.
LightEdge Building 2 (Altoona, IA): The second phase of new construction slated for a Spring 2016 start adding additional floor space and carpentry.
Gray’s Landing Office Building (Des Moines, IA): We are excited to continue our relationship with Sherman & Associates as we prepare for the initial work on the 90,000 SF commercial office space in downtown Des Moines.
Holy Family Catholic School (Des Moines, IA): Demolition and rebuild of the school gym, cafeteria, and stage area along with additional parking and sports field.
College Hill (Des Moines, IA): Ball Team has been selected to partner with Newbury Development, Mercy College and Mercy for the renovation and addition of Mercy Court into office space and student housing. Remodeling work will begin in early spring with completion of the initial student housing phase scheduled for fall classes. The 20,000 SF office and classroom addition will begin in later spring.
Life Serve (Marshalltown, IA): This is our second tenant improvement project for Life Serve as they continue to grow and expand.
Grimes Retail Center–Knapp Properties (Grimes, IA): We will start in early spring on a retail center in the Walmart Development. We are excited to resume our relationship with the Knapp Team.
